Thorpe Hall's Big 90th Weekend
Thorpe Hall School enjoyed a wonderful weekend of celebrations to mark its 90th anniversary year. This included a sparkling Summer Ball, captured in pictures by Essex Life magazine.
The sun also shone on Thorpe Hall’s 90th Anniversary Tea Party and alumni reunion on Sunday 5th July. With guided tours, music and drama performances in the theatre and 'old boys' cricket among the afternoon's entertainment, the event was a great success and well attended by Old Thorpehallians, current families and friends of the school. Headteacher Andrew Hampton was particularly delighted to welcome Mrs Betty Young, and daughters Elaine, Mimi and Diana. Mr Benjamin Young, was Principal and Headmaster of the school from 1956 to 1971 and his wife Betty worked alongside him at the original site in Thorpe Hall Avenue. Mrs Young and her youngest daughter Diana have kindly provided accounts of their Thorpe Hall lives for a commemorative book, due to be published at the end of the year.
