Upper School FAQ's

School Uniform

Thorpe Hall School prides itself on a smart uniform of Purple and Grey. Both girls and boys wear a blazer, white shirt and tie. The uniform is inexpensive and very hard wearing and the blazer and tie are both machine washable.
Children are expected to wear the uniform with pride and look smart and presentable at all times. More details on request.

The uniform can be purchased at the Schoolwear Centre on Hamlet Court Road and at Paul's Discount Centre in the centre of Southend.

School Lunches and Mealtimes

Our own team of cooks are skilled and experienced in creating menus that suit the palates of children and the food is very popular. School meals are freshly made each morning on site in the school kitchen which has been awarded the highest 5-star rating by the Food Standards Agency. Their National Hygiene Rating Scheme recognises the cleanliness of the kitchen as well as the standard of food production. Parents pay a separate charge for lunches calculated on a daily basis. Children can buy lunch on the day if they wish or are welcome to have a packed lunch from home if they prefer.

School Houses

The Houses are called Priory, Manor and Castle. Pupils are awarded House Points for effort and achievement in the classroom and other activities. Certificates are awarded in weekly assemblies for 25, 50, 75 and 100 House Points. The House with the most points wins a fun day out at the end of the Summer Term and the coveted HOUSE SHIELD.
