Music at Thorpe Hall School
There are many musical opportunities for pupils at Thorpe Hall
In addition to classroom lessons, instrumental and singing tuition is offered on a one-to-one basis and is charged as an extra. Pupils can have lessons with expert and experienced teachers on piano, saxophone, clarinet, flute, drums, guitar, voice, violin and trumpet.
There are choirs in the Lower School (KS1& KS2) and in the Upper School (KS3 & KS4). Both choirs take part in concerts and events held throughout the year as well as in the Southend and Leigh Festivals. Lower School pupils also take part in the ever-popular SEESMA concerts in June each year.
There is a Lower School Orchestra with children from Years 5 and 6 playing a variety of orchestral instruments and classroom percussion. In the Upper School pupils form rock bands and are given opportunities to perform to a variety of audiences. The Headteacher, Mr. Andrew Hampton, also runs 'Soulville' - a band with singers, horn and rhythm sections - which performs at concerts and Open Days.
Every year, the School stages a sophisticated musical production, giving pupils an excellent opportunity to sing, play and perform together.
