How to apply for a place at Thorpe Hall School

Applications are welcome at any time but are dependant upon a place being available in the chosen year group. Below is an outline of the admissions process:-

Step 1: Ask for an appointment with the Headteacher, Mr Andrew Hampton. He will arrange to show you around the School so you can gain a sense of its atmosphere and ethos. Please do bring your child to this appointment if you think it is appropriate.

Step 2: Complete and submit a Registration Form accompanied by a cheque for £50. You can pay by credit or debit card if you prefer.

Step 3: For entry into the School, other than at the beginning of Year 7: a day visit will be arranged during which your child will be assessed to ensure an education at Thorpe Hall School is appropriate for them. There is no additional cost for this day visit (lunch included) as it is covered by your Registration Fee. The School may ask your child to visit the School for longer than one day in some circumstances. For entry into the School at the beginning of Year 7: no day visit will be arranged; instead a full written school report is required.

Step 4: Subject to a successful visit, the School will offer you a place and invite you to complete the documentation for admission. For entry into Years 1 to 11 a £1,000 deposit is required to secure the place. This deposit is returnable when you leave the school provided the required notice has been given.

Places are offered from September 15th of the previous academic year, according to the Admissions Policy (see below).

Admissions Policy: Admission is offered to children who satisfy the entry criteria and are deemed to be suitable recipients of a Thorpe Hall School education. Places are offered to completed applications on a first come, first served basis with the following exceptions: preference is given to children of staff, siblings of current pupils, siblings of ex-pupils. The School will also give priority to creating a balance of genders.
