Drama at Thorpe Hall School

Drama is a huge strength of the school and all pupils have the chance to take part in award winning productions every year, both centre stage and behind the scenes.

From full-scale musicals to student-directed work and role-play, Drama lessons are structured to help pupils develop qualities such as teamwork, creativity, leadership, communication and self-awareness; all valuable assets in life.

In response to two decades of outstanding Drama work, the school built a brand new, state-of-the-art Theatre in 2006. With full lighting and sound equipment, this facility can seat 250 people on raked seating.

The Drama Department wins awards every year, both locally and nationally and in 2008 was invited to the All Winners Drama Festival on the Isle of Man.

Recent productions have included Jesus Christ Superstar, Pinocchio, Annie and Alice and for those who prefer life behind the scenes, there are many opportunities to learn the skills of the lighting and sound technicians, wardrobe and make-up assistants or scenery artists.
