County Final Medals for Two Lower School Teams
Thorpe Hall sent two hockey teams to the Essex County Finals at Chelmsford Hockey Club on March 7th and both returned with medals, marking the school’s highest hockey achievements to date.
Thorpe Hall School entered the tournament as Borough Junior Champions and Borough Senior Runners-Up. To prepare for tough competition from the county’s best, both teams trained extra hard, guided by the ever-dedicated Hayley Middleton and former international Kirsty Durban. Their hard work certainly paid off with some skilful hockey played on the day and excellent individual and team performances. The Juniors (Yrs. 5 & 6) scored an incredible 26 goals across all their matches and conceded only 5. They finished in second place with well- earned silver medals. And our newly formed Senior team (Yrs. 6 & 7) fought really hard for a bronze medal finish - an outstanding achievement, especially considering they had only ever played one other competitive tournament! Congratulations to both teams for a splendid county result!
